Saxophones From Around the World
Kelfar Technologies introduces its 15th sound expansion library to the family of NAUTILUS / KRONOS, the EXs189 DynaSax. The DynaSax brings to your NAUTILUS / KRONOS new saxophone elements to enhance your musical performances like you have never experienced. Kelfar Technologies has collaborated with professional saxophone players from around the world to recreate specific tone, breath, feel, and character from different types of saxophones.
Our aim is to bring the unique global saxophone sounds to you without the need for you to travel. While we are all familiar with the standard saxophones, we found a new sound that’s possibly unfamiliar -- the Bamboo Sax. The Bamboo Sax is fully playable, just like a regular sax, but with a unique sonic character.
One of the great features of the DynaSax is that we have preserved the acoustic feel of the saxophone by using special techniques and microphones to capture important sonic characteristics and details.

The Egyptian Alto Sax
The Egyptian Alto Sax has been used in Egyptian and Middle-Eastern classical music since the 1960s. It is played like a regular sax but with a special breath method to produce microtonal music and has been used in many famous songs most notably “Gana el Hawa” (composed by Abdel Haleem Hafez). The famous saxophonist Samir Srour is a permanent fixture of the Diamond Band orchestra (Al- ferqa Almasia) courtesy of M. Abdel Wahab.

Renowned Musician & Sound Designer
Dan Stesco collaborated with Kelfar Technologies to design and program the sound programs and combis in the EXs189 DynaSax library. His expertise in sound design and his ability to create an original sound from a known song or a song theme adds a new sonic signature to the DynaSax sound library.
For many years, Dan has been performing audio and videos demonstrations for Kelfar Technologies’ libraries: KRS97 Acoustica, EXs173&174 Kithara, EXs186 Vintage Organs & Synths, EXs188 Expressive Strings, and EXs189 DynaSax.

Massive Number of Samples When Combined with the Factory ROM!
The DynaSax library offers the complete collections of high-quality sampled saxophones: Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Baritone Sax, and Soprano Sax. To make the library fuller and to complement the instruments, the following multi samples have been added from our private collections: Bamboo Sax, Kelfar Tenor Sax (Stereo), Large Choir (Stereo), Clarinet, Acoustic Guitar (Stereo), and Kelfar Electric Guitar (Stereo).

Factory ROM: Accordion, Electric Bass, Piano, Strings, Pads, and many more.

Added Realism – New Dynamics
To add more realism to your performances, many of the EXs189 saxophones are programmed with round-robins. The saxophone will no longer sound static or mechanical but instead just like real instruments. Each new note sounds with fresh dynamics. The DynaSax has the natural noise/breath and the Key Off of the actual Saxophone!

Mono or Poly
The saxophone is a monophonic instrument and we have programmed many of the Programs and Combis to include the option to be played in either mono or poly. To differentiate between Mono or Poly, we have added M at the end of name of the sound, for example, Breathy Alto Sax is Poly and Breathy Alto SaxM.

Deep Level of Programing the EXs189 DynaSax
For the first time, Kelfar Technologies brings a new programming feature (it was introduced in the previously released EXs188 Expressive Strings) to the Korg KRONOS: cross-fade between the samples while performing the saxophones in real-time. Legato is very important when performing saxophone or other instruments that require a smooth transition between the notes.

Effects
It is important to have the right effects when performing the sax and, to ensure as realistic sounds as possible, we assigned Knobs 7 and 8 to control the effects in real-time. It is very handy and, whether performing live or in the studio. you can get the right amount of Reverb or Delays. A few of the Saxophones in Progs and Combis have been programmed with effects related to a theme or song!

Dynamic Saxophone with Velocity Switching
Many of the combis are programmed to respond to velocity switching dynamics. The EXs189 responds to Dynamics' Note Velocity: p, mp, mf, f, ff. We have referenced the dynamics of each of the combis by naming them according to the velocity switching.

Realistic Saxophone Articulations and AMS (Alternate Modulation Source, Realtime Controls)
The EXs189 has the following articulations:
• Glissando Up
• Glissando Down
• Trill
• Vibrato
• Growl

All the AMS assignments and Real-Time Controls have been standardized, and the AMS were programmed to cross-fade between previous notes and new notes. This provides another way to perform between the notes or play legato without creating any artifacts. You have dynamic control over the sound using SW1, SW2, After Touch, Velocity, Joystick, and Ribbon. It is highly recommended that you use the EXs189 Guide to become familiar with the Kelfar DynaSax.

ASSIGNABLE AMS (Applicable for Combis I-G / C019):
• J Y+ := Vibrato
• J Y- := Trill
• J X- := Glissando Down
• J X+ := Glissando Up

Double AMS assignments when SW1 or SW2 are selected:
• SW2 + J Y- := Growl

Note Retrigger (Applicable for Combis I-G / C019)
All the articulations included in this library can be retriggered while holding a note. You can take full control of each element of the saxophone without the need to release the note to play the articulation.

Experience World Scales
Kelfar DynaSax can be performed in both equal temperament and non-equal temperament scales. Experiment, compose, and perform both Western and Eastern-style saxophone music.

Mr. Nader Harb of Moda Music, Michigan, recorded the Kelfar DynaSax (Alto Sax - MS.000-008, 013-014 & 061-065). All other Multi-Samples were recorded by Dan Stesco and Karim El-Far of Kelfar Technologies. Kelfar DynaSax was engineered and programmed by Karim El-Far of Kelfar Technologies.

Note: The order of the factory Programs is arranged differently among NAUTILUS, KRONOS2 and KRONOS/KRONOS X. This affects the sounds which reference the factory Programs. Please download the file which matches your keyboard.
