The KRS-30 ”Incredible FM” Library offers a varied sound set of 32 programs and one drum track for the KORG KRONOS/NAUTILUS.
Only the MOD-7 engine was used.
On January 24, 1984, Sydney A. Alonso and Cameron W. Jones of New England Digital Corporation filed the patent application 572,625 entitled “PARTIAL TIMBRE SOUND SYNTHESIS METHOD AND INSTRUMENT” which became the patent US 4,554,855 on November 26, 1985, and which can be easily retrieved free of charge from e.g. depatisnet.dpma.de. Alonso and Jones make reference to the prior art patent US 4,018,1212 entitled “METHOD OF SYNTHESIZING A MUSICAL SOUND” , issued on April 19, 1977, and invented by Dr. John M. Chowning. Dr. Chowning’s patent makes use of “frequency modulation of the fundamental (…) by a single modulation signal”, FM (frequency modulation) synthesis for short. In their patent US 4,554,855, Alonso and Jones introduce considerable improvements over the original patent US 4,108,121. These improvements were introduced what became the probably most flexible FM synthesizer ever built on this planet.
Inspired by the sounds of this truly mighty FM synthesizer, KApro decided to introduce the KRS-30 KApro ”Incredible FM” library which adapts selected sounds from the Alonso-Jones apparatus to the KORG KRONOS/NAUTILUS. Among these selected sounds, you will find the iconic “Gong” sound which was made a seminal FM sound by a world hit in pop music, thrilling us all back in 1982 by an unprecedented “beat”. This time, this “Gong” sound has been adapted to a synthesizer other than the Alonso-Jones apparatus. At least according to our best knowledge this has been done for the first time ever with almost perfect quality without making use of any sampling.
An absolute MUST HAVE for every KRONOS/NAUTILUS user!
Note: The order of the factory Programs is arranged differently among NAUTILUS, KRONOS2 and KRONOS/KRONOS X. This affects the sounds which reference the factory Programs. Please download the file which matches your keyboard.
