KRS36 OASYS EXi Dreams

The KORG OASYS is the legendary predecessor of the KORG KRONOS/NAUTILUS. It was released in 2005. Unlike its competitors, the KORG OASYS is a software-defined workstation designed to be arbitrarily expandable. The KORG OASYS was introduced in two different variants, the first variant having a velocity sensitive 76 keys synth-action keyboard and the second variant providing the user with an 88 keys hammer-action keyboard. Both variants have "After Touch".

The KORG OASYS exploits KORG's OASYS (Open Architecture SYnthesis Studio) technology which allows multiple synthesis engines to be used simultaneously. The latest KORG OASYS Operating System version 1.3.3a featured seven synthesis engines, namely

• HD-1, a samples based synthesizer with wave sequencing
• AL-1, a polyphonic virtual analog synthesizer
• CX-3, a modelled tone wheel organ
• STR-1, a plucked string physical modelling synthesizer
• PolysixEX (being one of two parts of the LAC-1 option), modelling the vintage KORG Polysix
• MS-20EX (being the other of the two parts of the LAC-1 option), modelling the vintage KORG MS-20
• MOD-7, which combines Variable Phase Modulation (VPM) – also known as FM (Frequency Modulation) synthesis –, waveshaping, ring modulation, samples playback, and subtractive synthesis in a semi-modular synthesis architecture

all of which were inherited by the KORG KRONOS/NAUTILUS.
