The Kelfar Omega Kanun stands out with its unique acoustic feel, meticulously preserved through specialized deep sampling techniques and advanced microphone setups. Utilizing an innovative quad stereo micing technique developed by Sam Skaf, employing dual ORTF pairs, we've captured every nuance of the instrument, accentuating differences between left and right stereo fields and balancing the sound energy across low and high octaves, resulting in a four-dimensional perception through stereo signal. This comprehensive library leaves nothing out, encompassing everything from subtle noises to metallic latches, empowering you to craft your masterpiece using these sounds individually or in combination.
The EXs252 includes both Anatolian (a.k.a Turkish Kanun) and Aleppian (a.k.a Arabic Kanun) kanuns. The kanun is an ancient instrument commonly performed across the Mediterranean region. Each region performs the kanun with the local micro-tonal tuning system. In general, the difference in the types of kanun for each region is slight. For example, the octave for the Allepian kanun starts from octave G2 (Sol2) to the highest note D6 (Re6), and the Anatolian kanun begins from octave A2 (La2) to the highest E5 (Mi5).
Varieties of Omega Kanuns
The EXs252 includes both Vintage and Modern Kanuns:
Anatolian (a.k.a Turkish Kanun)
Aleppian (a.k.a Arabic Kanun)

Armenian
Octaver Kanun

Wave Sequences and Phrases
The EXs252 kanun is programmed with round-robins to add more realism to your performance. The Kanun will no longer sound static or mechanical. Now, they sound just like real kanun. Each new note sounds with fresh dynamics. Many of the programs and combis are programed with WS and melodic Phrases. The phrases are synced with the beat and can be performed with any musical key or scale (major/minor).
KARMA GEs (ARPs in Nautilus) and Drum Tracks
We have designed and programmed many combis to include KARMA GEs (ARPs in Nautilus) and DT. When performing the included combis, it will take your performance to the next level. The EXs252 includes many genres of music: EDM, Rock, Jazz, Ethnic, Atmospheric, Ambience.
Dynamic Kanun with Velocity switching
Many of the combis are programmed to respond to 6, 8, 12, and 16 velocity switching dynamics. The EXs252 does respond to Dynamics' Note Velocity: ppp, pp, p, mp, mf, f, ff. We have referenced the dynamics of each of the combis by naming them according to the velocity switching.
Effects
Do you need to add specific effects to carry off a solo or flourish? Knobs 7/N-5 and 8/N-6 control the effects in real time. This feature makes it easy to get the right amount of Reverb or Delays whether you're performing live or playing in the studio. We've even programmed the kanun in Progs and Combis with effects related to a theme or song!
Realistic Kanun Articulations and AMS (Alternate Modulation Source, Real-time Controls)
The EXs252 has the following articulations:
